Lydia was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2004.
Lydia Zaragosa received 12 letters at SHS in Track, Basketball, Softball and Soccer. She was Captain of the Basketball and Softball teams; a member of the All-Division Team for Softball in 1998 and 2000, Academic All-State during basketball in 2002 and was the Gatorade ‘Will to Win Athlete’ in 2000. While attending the College of Saint Mary she played basketball and softball. She won Softball Honorable Mention for the All Conference Team in 2002, 1st Team All Conference in 2001, and 2nd Team Region in 2001. She graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in biology. She helped with basketball camps at College of Saint Mary and is a volunteer coach at basketball camps for grade school children at St. Agnes and St. Mary’s Schools. Lydia joined Omaha Fire Department in 2013, 2019 was her first year as a paramedic. She helps with different events put on by OFD, such as, MDA Steak Frys, Fill the Boot, etc. Lydia spent several years as an assistant basketball and head freshman coach as well as an assistant to varsity at South High. Lydia also enjoys boxing and competed in Omaha Guns & Hoses Boxing Challenge in both 2018 and 2019. |
