Jim was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2006.
After graduating from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Jim began his railroad career with Union Pacific, where he held a variety of professional, managerial, and senior management positions. Jim was President and Chief Executive Officer of Union Pacific Corporation (UPC). Prior to his appointment to this position in 2005, Jim was President and Chief Operating Officer of Union Pacific Railroad (UP). He became a director of UPC in 2005. He served on the boards of Creighton University, Joslyn Art Museum, Grupa Ferroviario Mexicano, the Association of American Railroads, and the Nebraska Medical Center. He served as area chairman of the United Way of the Midlands campaign cabinet, and served on the boards of Girls Incorporated and the Nebraska Council on Economic Education. Jim passed away in 2014. |
