JIM YOUNG

Jim was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2006.

Mr. Young is President and Chief Executive Officer of Union Pacific Corporation (UPC), was featured in our Spring 2006 TOOTER as an outstanding alumnus.  Prior to his appointment to his current position in November 2005, Young was President and Chief Operating Officer of Union Pacific Railroad (UP) since January 2004.  He became a director of UPC in February 2005.  Mr. Young began his railroad career with UP in 1978 and has held a variety of professional, managerial, and senior management positions.

He serves on the boards of Creighton University, Joslyn Art Museum, Grupa Ferroviario Mexicano, the Association of American Railroads, and the Nebraska Medical Center.  He has served as area chairman of the United Way of the Midlands campaign cabinet, and has served on the boards of Girls Incorporated and the Nebraska Council on Economic Education.

Mr. Young is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
