Robert "Bob" Urban was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2008.
Bob has spent 46 years with the First National Bank of Omaha (FNB-O), starting as a part-time mail clerk and retiring in 1998 as Senior Vice President. His banking career included working in nearly all major divisions of the bank while he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and History from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also earned Certified Land Management credentials. He received many honors including the 1974 President's Award from FNB-O and the 1992 Welcome T. Bryant Memorial Award from the Urban League. He received Appreciation Awards from the following organizations; 1994 American G.I. Forum; 1994 Omaha SER Jobs for Progress; and 1998 Safari Club. He was also inducted into the Benson High School Wall of Fame. His civic contributions have included Social Settlement Committee Chair; Girls, Inc. Chair of Annual Fund Drive; Downtown Kiwanis Hospitality Chair, Urban Bankers of Nebraska Banquet Chair, Urban League Chair of Economic Development & Employment; Epilepsy Society Board Chair; and Teachers' Appreciation Breakfast Chair for the Adopt-A-School committee. He was also a member of the Hispanic Employment Council, El Museo Latino, and Work Net. Currently he is a member of Project Extra Mile, Executive Service Corp., and the South High Alumni Association Foundation Board. |
