Anton was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2015.
Anton is the owner of Anton’s Coffee Shop which has been in the same location in Springfield, MO for 41 years. The shop received many awards over the years. Anton was credited for helping to put a smoking ban on the ballot in Missouri to eliminate smoking in public spaces. He has served as president of the Springfield/Branson Chapter of Missouri Restaurant Association, Master of United #5 Masonic Lodge and Chief Greeter for the Shrine Temple. He served on the original Board of Directors for Ozarks Community College Culinary Department and Twin Oaks Country Club. He was the main speaker at the National Cancer Survivors luncheon in Springfield. Anton is currently a member of Kiwanis, Sigma Epsilon Fraternity at UNO, Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity and an original member of Vision 20/20 in Springfield. He is a patron member of two theater groups. Other memberships include Elks Lodge and United Methodist Church. Anton financially supports the Masonic Home, Cancer Society, VFW, Paralyzed Vets, Food Harvest, MSU scholarships, Salvation Army, Disabled Vets and Twin Oaks golf tournaments. He donates gift certificates to various organizations and school programs. Anton received his Business and Home Economics degrees from UNO. He feels that SHS provided him with an education that resulted in a better life for him. He appreciates his teachers and fellow classmates. Anton passed away in 2020. |
