Jan was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2003.

Jan Philby played football, basketball and baseball, lettering for three years.  He was nominated for “Nebraska Athlete of the Year” in 1954.  At Dana College he received 9 letters from 1954-1958 in football, basketball and baseball.  He was “All CCCC Conference” for football and baseball, was Dana College “Athlete of the Year” in 1955 and 1956, and was inducted into the Dana College “Athletic Hall of Fame.”  He was a Red Oak, Iowa high school football coach and was inducted in the “Hall of Fame.”
