COLLEN (NOVAK) HALEY

Class of 1967
Inducted in 1992
Colleen (Novak) Haley was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 1992.

She received her BSBA, from the University of NE at Omaha majoring in Management & Organizational Behavior with a minor in Psychology.  She entered the Xerox Corporation’s Management Studies Program and completed several management programs after she joined Xerox, a Fortune 500 company, in a customer service position.  She rose through the ranks to become the company’s first female Midwest Region Service Manager.  In 1987 she joined First Data Resources, also a Fortune 500 company then owned by American Express, in a management position.  She was promoted to Senior Vice President/Administration, joining the firm’s executive committee.  Her community activities included FDR “World of Work” seminar which was attended by SHS and other students, AX Philanthropic Committee, FDR Workforce 2000 which addressed diversity issues, the YWCA and was an American Cancer Society volunteer.

She said that to her being a SHS graduate meant:

- Being associated with an organization that is ‘here to stay’.
- A foundation built from a ‘grass roots,’ strong worth ethic.
- Family tradition – several generations attending the same institution.
- Based on my own personal successes, it means a quality education that was obtained
from the public rather than the private sector.
