Beth was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2012.
Beth has served 26 years as chair of the Math Department at Brownell Talbot School for grades K-12, while remaining in the classroom teaching. She also coached the math team, volleyball and basketball. She sponsored the cheerleading squad, and the National Honor Society. She taught math classes at SHS for five years while earning her masters degree. After a sabbatical to raise her two children, she returned to the classroom at Brownell Talbot. Beth received her degrees from Hastings College and UNO. She received the Cooper Foundation for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics Award in 1991; the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics in 1996; the Radio Shack National Teacher Award in 2002. She also received the first Tradition of Excellence Award at Brownell Talbot in 2002. Beth was a finalist in the Nebraska Teacher of the Year competition and was awarded Nebraska Teacher of Excellence in 2008. She credits the well-rounded education she received at SHS for her love of teaching. |
