James was inducted into SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2001.
Dr. Melsa is the Dean of the College of Engineering and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He was a finalist this past spring for the position of President of Iowa State. He is the author or contributor of 12 books on electrical engineering and computer technology and has written more than 100 journal articles. He has been a professor of engineering at the University of Arizona, Southern Methodist University and Notre Dame. Dr. Melsa has been a consultant at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory and Vice President of Strategic Quality for Tellabs, Inc. He currently serves as a consultant for Hy-Vee and the Pella Corporation. Listed in the WHO'S WHO Registry Sterling Edition, James Melsa is the holder of the IEEE Third Millennium Medal, Iowa State IMPACT Award and has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He is also a Trustee of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library. Dr. Melsa was on a fundraising tour of Silicon Valley and was unable to attend the banquet, but Mr. Bob Anderson accepted the award for him. |
