David was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2002.
Dr. McDowell is the Regents' Professor and Carter N. Paden, Jr. Distinguished Chair in Metals Processing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has been with the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech since 1983. He is also Vice President of Engineering and founding partner of Structured Alloys, Inc., and a consultant for Sandia National Laboratories and the Institute for Defense Analyses. Dr. McDowell is the recipient of many distinguished awards in engineering, teaching and writing. Dr. McDowell is a past winner of the Alfred Noble Prize, has published four books and authored more than 100 journal articles. This Eagle Scout also finds time to serve First Christian Church in Atlanta as Trustee and Elder, coach a middle school Science Olympiad Team, coach church league basketball, and act as a Cub Scout Den Leader. He currently serves as President of the Society of Engineering Science. |
