MARK MARTINEZ

Mark was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2003 and into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2016.

High School Honors

• 3 letters: baseball, basketball
• Named to the All-Metro and All-State baseball teams as a senior second baseman
• Named to Scotty Orcutt-Collin All-Star game
• SHS’s winner of the American Legion distinguished achievement award
• Named in the OW-H coaches poll “All-Metro 6 Feet and Under” basketball team

 
Post High School

• Attended UNO; 4-year letterman in baseball. Mark holds a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice.
• Named to the All North Central Conference team, the Division II All-District 3rd team, and the Academic All-North Central Conference team
• He was a member of the Omaha Police Department, from 1984 until retiring as Deputy Chief in 2009
• Currently serves as the US Marshal for Nebraska

 
Mark Martinez is dedicated to the betterment of his community.  He is a member of the Chicano Awareness Center Board of Directors, President of the Latino Peace Officer's Association, member of the St. Stanislaus School Board, and elected member of the OPS Board of Education.

He is trainer of police recruits in the area of Domestic Violence, serving as an adjunct instructor at UNO. 

He has received the "Award of Sacrifice" for giving of time, self or well being in law enforcement by the Metropolitan Chiefs of Police Association and the National Latino Police Officers' Association "Award for Community Service."
