Eugene was inducted into SHSAA Hall of Fame in 1987.
He was a former state senator and Director of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, after a career as a police officer and political aide. He was known for his community involvement and his efforts to revitalize Nebraska's state park system, which led to the naming of Mahoney State Park in his honor. Eugene passed away in 2004 at the age of 76. |
