Dennis was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2009.
Dennis Loftus earned seven letters in wrestling and football. He was selected All-City in wrestling at 165 lbs. and heavy-weight. In 1962 he beat every wrestler in the city at three different weights (165, 189 and heavy-weight). In 1964 he was captain of both the wresting and football teams. He was All-City 2nd team, All-State Honorable Mention, and played both offense and defense in football. He coached the Woodson Center wrestling team with a record of 33-0, winning Little League State championships for two years in Open and Novice divisions. He was a wrestling official for seven years in Nebraska and Iowa and appeared in USA Wrestling Magazine. He worked for 31 years as a UAG produce inspector and for the Nash Finch Company. |
