High School Honors

• Football (3 letters):
  • A three-year starter on defense, playing inside linebacker his first two years and outside linebacker as a senior, he played fullback in 1991.
  • In 1992, named to the Lincoln Journal Star Class A first team, the Omaha World-Herald Class A first team and earned second-team OWH All-Nebraska and LJS Super-State honors as a running back
  • He rushed for more than 100 yards in every game, including 295 against Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson in 1992. He tallied 1,278 yards in eight games as a senior I-back and had Class A's second-best average at 159.8 yards per game.
  • Midway through the 1992 season, he began playing outside linebacker. He recorded 22 tackles and returned one interception 16 yards for a touchdown.
  • Played in the 1993 Nebraska Shrine Game.
• He also lettered 3 years in track and 2 years in basketball 

Post High School

• Attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a football scholarship

  • Vershan Jackson ended his collegiate career appearing in 38 games and finished with 19 catches for 305 yards and five scores. He signed a free-agency deal with the Seattle Seahawks following the 1998 NFL Draft.
  • He then signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a running back in 1999. They allocated him to Berlin for 2000 NFL Europe (Berlin Thunder). He gained 112 yards before an injury ended his season.
• Vershan has coached Little League, Omaha Nighthawks, Wayne State College, and Omaha Concordia High School
• He owns of JFA Internet Auto car dealership; has a 2-hour radio show in Lincoln (93.7 The Ticket); and recently opened a diner with his twin brother Antoine called Jackson's Fair Deal Cafe
• Vershan and his wife, Lynn have two children: DeJa and Amiah; and four grandchildren: Nyla, Jada, Nalea, and Jay Jr.
