Merit Award

Bob was given the Merit Achievement Award at the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats banquet in 2015. 

Bob played football and baseball for three years and basketball for two years at SHS.  He also played college baseball at Indiana University, Iowa Western Community College and Dallas Baptist College.  He coached summer baseball at Bryan, South and Fremont and was an assistant coach at Iowa Western and Bellevue Colleges.  Bob has been teaching math and coaching baseball at Westside High School for over 20 years.  His Westside teams have won seven high school state championships and six American Legion state championships. 

​He was picked as the Omaha-World Herald 2013 high school Coach of the Year, and the Lincoln Journal Star‘s 2014 high school Coach of the Year.  The American Baseball Coaches’ Association named him 2014 National high school baseball Coach of the Year.  The Westside Legion team (sponsored by KB Building Services) finished third in nationals.  Bob continues teaching and coaching at Westside High School.
