Angelo was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2007.
Angelo Fili is Executive Vice President of Greater Omaha Packing Co., Inc. His passion for the betterment of South Omaha has fueled his support of SHS students and their parents, creating job opportunities, providing excellent benefits and a rewarding work environment while focusing on respect and encouragement for all employees. One of his high school mentors and teacher, Sally Fellows, encouraged him to use his many talents and continue his education. He lived up to her expectations by becoming Student Council President, continuing his education at UNL, and becoming a very successful businessman. Fili was determined to work in the meat industry, and first became a skilled meat cutter and later a supervisor for Circle C Beef. Later he lent his talents to Beef America in opening their operations in Omaha, resulting in a very unique and successful operation in the boxed beef industry. He also worked with the company's sales department during this time. In 1992 Greater Omaha Packing hired him as Executive Vice President to assist in the opening of a new boxed beef plant where he has contributed significantly to the success of the company. It is one of the largest privately owned beef processing companies in the industry. Greater Omaha Packing Company has approximately 800 employees (80% of them living in South Omaha) and $825 million annual sales at its Omaha plant. He is an excellent spokesman for the industry and served as a panelist for the second annual BEEF Quality Summit in 2007. |
