Candy was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2018.
Candy retired in 2012 after serving 31 years as an education paraprofessional for Omaha Public Schools. She worked in the English as a Second Language program at Robbins, Ashland Park / Robbins and Field Club Elementary Schools. Candy has volunteered with the West Omaha Cosmopolitan Club (the club that fights diabetes) for 12 years; and helped raise money to send diabetic children to Camp Floyd Rogers and for a new Mobile Diabetes Center (in conjunction with the Nebraska Methodist College). She also participated in bell ringing for the Salvation Army Kettle Drive and at the Nebraska Children’s Home “Sand in the City” program. Candy was awarded Cosmopolitan of the Year in 2017. Candy is a SHS Alumni Association lifetime member, has been a board member since 2014 and started in 1993 with the first SHS Chili Supper. Over the years, Candy has helped with Poker Runs, Golf Tournaments, and, most notably, with the Spaghetti Dinner, co-chairing the last 12 years. Candy has tirelessly worked to promote SHS. She has served on all of her class reunion committees. Candy has been married to Dean Rezac-1963 for 53 years. Their family includes a son and grand-daughter. |
