Vince was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2011.
Vince earned ten letters: two in cross-country, four in wrestling and four in tennis (where he was undefeated in singles tennis for three years). He was two-time State tennis champion - 1965 in doubles and 1967 in singles. He was two-time Metro champion in singes and runner up in Metro doubles. As one of the greatest tennis players in SHS history, he was State champion on SHS’s only team title in the school’s history in 1965. Vince graduated in 1974 from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska and worked for Qwest for 32 years. He has been a lifelong volunteer at Cathedral and Holy Name churches, and volunteers at the Open Door Mission, as well as at various tennis clinics. He continues to play competitively and is a member of Team Tennis Omaha, playing on both regional and national teams from Omaha. |
