Ronald was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2011.
Ronald earned four letters in football and was Football Captain in 1958. He was named All-State, All-City, and Teen Magazine All-American Honorable Mention. Ron was honored by Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, and Orders of Eagles. He was a member of the 1957 and 1958 teams that won back–to–back state championships. Ron played in the First Annual Nebraska Shrine Bowl in1959 and served as Captain of the South team. He earned football scholarships at UNL two years and at Omaha University (now UNO) two years. His OU team won the 1962 Central Intercollegiate Conference Championship and was invited to participate in the second bowl game in the school’s history, coming away with a victory and a number 6 national poll ranking. The following year, they again were conference champions and achieved a number 10 ranking in the polls. Individual honors earned while at OU included being selected All-Conference Center. Eissler was employed by the Boys Clubs of Omaha and later at Union Pacific Railroad Company. His volunteer work includes the Ritonya-Buscher-Poehling Scholarship Program, Open Door Mission, Boys & Girls Clubs, UNL, UNO and SHS. |
