MELLANEE (DEVALL) KVASNICKA

Mellanee was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2003.

Dr. Mellanee Kvasnicka was SHS's first Buffett award winning teacher.  She recently represented SHS at a symposium on Women Writers of the West sponsored by First Lady Laura Bush at the White House.  Selected to be one of the Masters at the UNL Masters' Week, honoring outstanding alumni in 2001, Dr. Kvasnicka is the author of more than two dozen publications and is recognized nationally as one of the country's experts on the writings of Willa Cather.

Over her 33-year career as an English and Creative Writing teacher at SHS, Dr. Kvasnicka's students have been recognized for their writing as well, being published in many state and national periodicals.
