​Mike was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 1996.

The first to be awarded what was formerly called Packer Greats of the Past. Mike was #20, a left end for SHS and was All State, All City, Inner City, and Missouri Valley football honoree in 1934. ​
