​Bruce was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2016.

Heart and soul of Packer Basketball. Although the 2016 World-Herald Nebraska high school boys coach of the year — the first from South — suffered a heart attack in February, he didn’t miss a game and led the Packers to our first state title since 1990.

It took 5 years of Chubick coaching before the Packers worked their way to a winning season. Since then, the Packers have been district champions and state qualifiers every year.

His career includes more than 550 coaching victories in Nebraska and Iowa as well as three state championships — one at Atkinson-West Holt and two at Omaha South (2016 & 2019).

Coach Chubick was awarded Journal Star's boy's coach of the year in 2019 and was inducted into Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.
