Mr. Campos was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 1991.
Mr. Campos was the Vice President of the Omaha Central Labor Union when he was approached about seeking employment in the foreign service. He said he just laughed. Well, 24 years later we find him as the regional director of the United States Agency for International Development. Mr. Campos has served the United States State Department in embassies in Ecuador, El Salvador, Paraguay, Chile, Dominican Republic and Honduras. He has also served with former President Jimmy Carter as an election observer in various countries in Central and South America. Mr. Campos states the time he spent at South High has "enabled me the opportunity to apply my talents in the international field and has permitted me to compete with distinguished personnel assigned to the foreign service." |
