Mike was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2013.
Mike Bugay earned two letters in baseball. He was team captain in 1985 and he won the MVP award that year. He played legion ball in 1984 and 1985, winning the Jeff Hebenstreit award in 1985. Mike attended Bellevue College from 1986 through 1989, and he was selected All-Conference player all three years. He was team captain in 1989 and won MVP, the Hustle award, District Player of the Year, and honorable mention All-American. He led the nation in hit by pitches in 1989 and the 1989 year’s team was the first to win the district playoffs and advance to the area tournament. While in college he participated in the area schools child seat belt safety program. Mike has coached his son’s baseball team for the past four years, and is a PTO volunteer at Chandler Elementary School. He has been employed by Coca Cola for the past 22 years. Mike was inducted to the Bellevue University Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010. |
