Ron was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2016 and into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2022.
Ron, superintendent of schools in Hudson, Wisconsin, retired after 17 years. He received his BS, MS and Specialist degrees from UNO and his Doctor of Education degree from UNL with honors. He was a member, president or chair of numerous administrator organizations and boards, and he gave many presentations regarding education. Ron progressed in his 38-year career from teacher to principal to director to assistant superintendent to superintendent in school districts in Nebraska, Missouri and Wisconsin. He has been active in numerous community, governmental, recreational, educational and civic organizations throughout his career. High School Sports Accomplishments:
He was inducted into the Packer Sports Greats as a member of the 1960 and 1962 baseball and the 1963 metro football championship teams. After High School:
He said, “SHS reflected the ‘melting pot’ of diversity that existed in South Omaha. The values and work ethic reflected by this school have served me well throughout my personal and professional life experiences. I was inspired to become an educator by Ms. Sally Fellows, my history teacher. Those memories will be cherished forever.” |
