​Leroy was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2007.

Leroy (Lee) Baker is the Senior Vice President of Special Projects for HDR Engineering firm.  He received his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with distinction from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1964, and a dual Master's degree in structures and hydraulics from the University of Illinois in 1965. After working in Chicago for five years for Harza Engineering, an international consultant in dams and hydroelectric projects, he returned to Omaha and joined HDR. He has had an outstanding record of successfully implementing civil works projects and programs during his 38-year career with HDR.

Baker has served on the Rockbrook Elementary School Playground Committee; the South/Southwest YMCA Board of Directors including two years as President; Nebraska Consulting Engineers Council as President and National Director; and as a sponsor for Jr. Achievement. He has been published in many technical publications.
