Toni was inducted into the the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2014.
Antoinette Hahn graduated from the Nebraska Methodist Nursing School in 1949. She advanced to House Supervisor at Lutheran Hospital and then head nurse at Douglas County Hospital, retiring in 1989. She has received many accolades and numerous awards and certificates of appreciation for her countless volunteer hours and support of charities, including many from AARP Nebraska for her leadership role in helping others. Toni served on the AARP Management Team at the Nebraska Information Center after being nominated because of her community volunteer efforts. She won a television for turning in the most pledge cards from voters after urging them to vote for candidates willing to support affordable health care services. She was nominated for the Andrus award in 2006 and 2007 for her extensive community service hours. She was also nominated for the Humana Starlight award for her achievements in Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly. The American Legion commander thanked her personally for the treats she brought monthly to the Veterans Home for the ice cream socials. The mayor wrote her a letter thanking her for her volunteer work to improve the quality of life in our community. She was named an honorary state life member of the Nebraska Congress of Parents and Teachers. Toni said her time at SHS prepared her to be a nurse. She learned discipline and has always been proud to be a SHS graduate. |
