GEORGE WRIGHT

George was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2012.

George “Dumpy” Wright earned two letters in football and three in wrestling at SHS. He was named All-City two years and All-State champion one year in wrestling and was Team Captain. At 138 lbs. he won the North High Invitational his senior year. 

He was also on the basketball team one year, track team one year and baseball team two years. His other SHS activities included ROTC and rifle team. He served as a Big Brother and was in Spanish Club.  

After graduation, he played semi-pro baseball throughout the Midwest against such teams as the K.C. Monarchs and the Indy Clowns.
