Betty Volenec

Class of 1965 - Inducted 1996
Betty was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 1996.

Betty has appeared on stage around the world with such internationally recognized performers as Lena Horne, Michel LeGrand and Harry Belafonte.  She has been presented at command performances for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and their Serene Highnesses Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco. 

According to Ms. Volenec, "My years at SHS were artistically my most crucial formative years. Roland Hinrichs, my music teacher, and Clara Ross, my drama teacher, demonstrated enormous faith and encouragement in my talents.  They paved the way to my successful singing career."  As a member of such renowned groups as the Norman Luboff Choir, the Roger Wagner Chorale and the Camerata Singers, Ms. Volenec recorded dance, movie and Broadway soundtracks and appeared on such noted musical programs as  Choice of Destinies, Dial M for Music and The Great American Dream Machine.
