Dave was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024.

High School:

• Baseball (2 letters):
  • Played 2nd base
  • 1969 State American Legion Midget State champions
  • On the all-state baseball team senior year
• Basketball (2 letters):
  • Played point guard position
  • Played in the Metro Classic All-Star game
  • Team was 1969 Metro champions
• Also lettered 2 years in football as quarterback        

 
After High School:

• Attended UNO on scholarship to play both basketball and baseball
  • Played both sports all four years
  • Was All-Conference in baseball both junior and senior years
• Taught physical education and coached football, basketball and wrestling in Bellevue Public Schools for 32 years, retiring in 2004.
• Dave and his wife Carla have four children and eight grandchildren
