Denny was inducted into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2025.

High School:

• Baseball (3 letters):
  • All Metro Pitcher in 1967                                                        (all-state awards not presented at this time)
• Also lettered 3 times in Basketball & Cross-Country
• Was on the Academic Honor Roll all 4 years at South

After High School:

• Graduated from Omaha University (UNO) with a bachelor’s in business
• Played baseball all four years while at UNO
• Was co-captain one year and an Outstanding Athlete of America honoree
• Selected at a Kansas City Royals baseball camp to attend their Florida Baseball Academy in 1971
• Played semi-pro baseball with various teams through 1984:
  • Teams included Village Bar (1968 state champs), Frickes, Sarpy FOP, Arts Auto, Falstaff and Broncos.
  • Played in many tournaments throughout Nebraska and Iowa.
  • Selected to all-star teams twice and tourney MVP at Westphalia, Iowa in 1984.
• Employed at Farmland Foods for 37 years
• Assistant coach for several youth basketball and baseball teams
• Married to Mary (Lee) (SHS-1968). They have 3 sons and 9 grandchildren
