Class of 1964
Inducted in 2026 - Community Partner |
Bev was inducted into SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2026 as Community Partner.
Bev is being honored as this year’s Community Partner because of her unwavering dedication to the alumni association through her volunteerism, monetary donations and desire to help anywhere she can. She helped with SHSAA Spaghetti Dinners for 12 years. She has also co-chaired SHSAA garage sales, which have earned the alumni association several thousand dollars. This is a laborious job of gathering items, sorting, pricing, setting up and running the actual sale. Nicknamed our “Good Will Ambassadors,” Bev and, her husband, Vic (SHS-1961), always volunteer to work the greeting tables at the various annual events we hold for South staff/teachers. Events include a Back-to-School pancake breakfast, Valentine’s Day popcorn bar, and a Teacher Appreciation Day coffee/smoothie bar. Their smiling faces greet each South educator as they offer a chance to win a raffle prize. Bev says these events are so much fun and she and Vic really enjoy interacting with the staff/teachers. She has also helped with the SHSAA's yearly Christmas project for senior centers. The alumni association puts together goody bags for 300 senior citizens who reside at several local senior facilities. If they are unable to help at an event, they are the first to help with the monetary donations needed for the events. When the alumni association participated in the Cinco de Mayo parades, she and Vic would transport their trailer for us to use as a float to 24th Street and help toss out the candy to the attendees. Bev worked for Bellevue Public Schools for 35 years, retiring as the cafeteria manager at Bellevue West High School. She was also a 4-H Leader for 25 years. Her sisters, parents, and aunts and uncles have also been proud South graduates. They have three sons and daughter-in-laws; six grandchildren and three great granddaughters. |
