Steve Cavlovic
Class of 1950 - Inducted in 1989 / 2007
Steve was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 1989 and into the SHSAA Packer Sports Greats in 2007.

Steve was the catalyst responsible for raising over $38,000 for a Centennial Scholarship program at South High in 1989 during its 100th Anniversary celebration. He gathered a group of individuals who raised the funds and awarded sixteen $1,000 scholarships and created a permanent endowment to continue the program.

After his graduation from South, Cavlovic played baseball professionally with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He is the president and a director of the Ritonya-Buscher-Poehling Scholarship Fund which provides student grants and creative teaching grants to educators. Cavlovic is the Vice President and co-developer of the Corrigan Senior Center and housing units which provide services to South Omaha senior citizens.

Steve passed away December 2013.
